WEONA REDWOOD SEALS DOUBLE AT DOOMBEN

WEONA REDWOOD continued the super start to his career when he claimed a second successive win in the midweek metropolitan meeting at Doomben. 

Having got off the mark over 1800m at the Gold Coast earlier in the month, the son of Redwood stepped up to 2060m at career start number four and promptly repeated the dose in Wednesday’s Class 1 Plate. 

With Ryan Maloney returning to the saddle for the first time since his debut, WEONA REDWOOD settled in a prominent position in the early skirmishes. 

Having hit the front with 200m to go, the 3YO held off the persistent challenge of his older rivals to land his first city success, with stablemate TRUMP CARD rallying late to snatch third place.
