INDAMOUSE GETS THE CHEESE

INDAMOUSE sealed a Friday double for the stable when he scurried away from his rivals at the Sunshine Coast.

His five-length romp in the Maiden Handicap (1800m) came at career start number eight and provided emphatic proof that the 4YO is really starting to learn his race crafts.

Given a positive ride by new jockey Michael Rodd, INDAMOUSE hit the front at the 400m mark and pulled well clear of the field in the closing stages to join stablemate GROENING in the winner’s enclosure - albeit 550km apart.

“He’s really starting to learn what it’s all about,” said David.

“His last start was a nice lead-up run, and I loved the way Michael took the bull by the horns. He shook him up before the corner and got him through the flat spot he sometimes hits. When they found the front, he extended very nicely which would have given the horse plenty of confidence.

“It was wonderful to see such a dominant win, and it showed he’s going to be comfortable over further distances. That’s exciting, because generally the further you go, the weaker the opposition. It was only a maiden, but the way he won suggested we can aim a bit higher with him.”

Many congratulations to all his owners: Mrs A Borges, Mr J M Brennan, Mr C J Norris, Mr S D Bailey, Mr G Meharg, Mr A J Meara, Mr D Gardiner, Mr J Norris and Mrs A M Norris.
