TUFF TU MUS MAKES IT LOOK EASY

Updated: Oct 10, 2024

TUFF TU MUS made a well-deserved breakthrough at midweek metropolitan level with an all-the-way win at career start number three.

After back-to-back runner-up finishes including an agonising defeat at Eagle Farm the start prior, the son of All Too Hard looked the horse to beat in Wednesday’s Maiden Plate (1350m) at Doomben and that’s precisely how it played out with a comfortable win under Jimmy Orman.

The pair pinged the lids and grabbed the race by the scruff of the neck from the outset, with both horse and rider in cruise control out the front.

When Orman gave TUFF TU MUS a shake of the reins, the 3YO promptly put a margin on his rivals to justify favouritism and collect a cheque for $22,000.

“After we saddled him up he had a little buck, so he knew what he was here for today,” said David.

“But he wasn’t over the top and when he learns his craft, he’ll settle down. I really liked Jimmy’s ride today, the plan was to go forward and get the fence which he did. When he turned for home, he wobbled around a bit but the fence helped straighten him up and it was all over pretty quickly.

“You could see him pin his ears back so he really wanted it today. He’s made a nice progression from his debut, he’s a big horse and he was carrying a bit of condition but he’s really tightened up now. It was great to see him come on from that tough run he had last time.”

Many congratulations to his sole owner, John Fordham.
