JIMMY BRINGS UP DOUBLE DELIGHT

Reformed character JIMMY’S BROTHER sealed a home track double with a powerful performance as the race favourite.

The son of Zousain had done a few things wrong at his previous start, but he was on his best behaviour in Sunday’s Benchmark 65 Handicap (1000m).

Punters could not have missed his lead-up trial, which JIMMY’S BROTHER won by 10 lengths, and he was backed accordingly upon his return to competitive action.

Having been taken straight to the front by jockey Ryan Wiggins, the 4YO soon put a margin on his rivals in the straight and eventually raced well clear to prevail by almost four lengths.

“He was very good today,” said Wiggins.

“He was a different horse, as soon as he came out of the gates he showed good intent. I liked the way he sprinted after changing his legs in the straight. His concentration was pretty good the whole race, although he probably had a little look around in the last 50 metres when the race was won.

“He’s always had the ability, he just needed a bit more time to mature and hopefully now that the penny has now really dropped with him, he can start to go through his grades.”
