Stable stalwart SNEAK PREVIEW showed that age is nothing but a number when he scored his 10th win in some style at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The 8YO went through $400,000 in prizemoney thanks to a very canny ride by Cejay Graham, who saved ground on the rail before catching her rivals by surprise in the home straight.
With most of the jockeys opting to get off the fence, Graham plotted a lone course up the inside rail and it proved to be the winning move as SNEAK PREVIEW powered home in the manner of a horse half his age.
It was SNEAK PREVIEW’s first win for seven months, but his trainer had expected an improved showing given the son of Smart Missile’s impeccable pre-race behaviour.
“He was a big price today but I was quietly confident because he was in such a good headspace,” said David.
“Things didn’t go to plan, I thought he’d be up on speed but then he missed the start and he had to take a sit. When he was third last before the bend, I thought he had no chance of winning. But when they turned for home he went whoosh!
“It was a pretty good run last time and with the drop in class, he was too strong for them today. He was ready to perform today, and even though things didn’t go according to plan it was great to see him get another win on the board for his owners.”
