SLIPPIN’ JIMMY edged closer to banking $500,000 in prizemoney earnings after scoring the first win of his prep at Ipswich on Friday.

The son of Pariah benefitted from the drop in class and trip to register an eighth career win from 19 starts in the Open Handicap (1100m).

SLIPPIN’ JIMMY jumped the hot favourite but he was made to work hard before eventually sealing a confidence-boosting win with a powerful late burst under Ben Thompson.

“It was a very tough performance,” said David.

“It’s not easy to drop back from 1400 metres to 1100m metres and win, especially at a tight track like Ipswich. So he did really well and hats off to Ben for the ride.

“We’ll possibly look to go to the Gold Coast next in two weeks, there’s an Open Handicap over 1200 metres which should suit him.”

Many congratulations to all his owners: The Big Seal, Mr K L Hill, Albury's Own, Mr S Dodds, Mr T J Brown, Mr R G Whalley, Mr D Souvannavong, Mr G D Rowden, Mr D Sutton, Mr P W Clayton, S P Mayer and Mr B R Douglas.
