SACRED MISSION continued the stable’s run of recent form with a debut victory at Ipswich.
The son of champion Sacred Falls went into Thurs day’s Colts, Geldings and Entires Maiden (1350m) off the back of an impressive trial win, and carried that form onto the racetrack with a narrow win.
Jockey Jim Byrne got going early on SACRED MISSION, and the vigorous riding brought the desired response as the gelding produced a powerful finish.
A nervous wait followed as the judge checked the photo, before SACRED MISSION was declared the winner by a nose.
The 3YO is still a work in progress and will get out over further in time, but winning debuts are not easy to come by so many congratulations to Dato Yap and all the team at Raffles Racing.
With two wins and two minor placings from our last four runners, the stable is starting to build some momentum at a crucial time as we head into the Queensland Winter Carnival.
