REMLAPS ANGEL FLIES HIGH AT THE COAST

REMLAPS ANGEL extended her excellent record at the Gold Coast when she bounced back to form in spectacular fashion on Friday night.

Despite getting stirred up pre-race on her previous visit to the Gold Coast in March, REMLAPS ANGEL ran creditably enough in the Military Rose (1100m) but the drop in both grade and distance helped her bounce back to her very best in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m).

With three wins and a minor placing from her five starts at the Gold Coast, the daughter of Hellbent has developed a great affinity with the venue.

From the wide gate Robbie Dolan had no option but to settle towards the rear of the field, but after clicking REMLAPS ANGEL into gear the pair rounded up their rivals in a matter of strides before the mare held on bravely late to register her fourth career win.

“It was a very impressive win,” said Dolan.

“It was a strong field and she put them away really well. She probably just peaked on her run at the 50-metre mark, but she’s so tough she stuck her head out all the way to the line.

“I couldn’t believe how relaxed she was, she was a different horse to her last start. She was brilliant going to the barriers, and if she stays nice and relaxed like that she could be well on the way to bigger and better things.”

Victory took her earnings close to $90,000, many congratulations to all her owners: Mystery Downs, Mrs C M Cook, Mr P M Hodgens, Mr W A Palmer, Mr T N Lawler, Mrs W M Palmer, Mr B R Palmer, Mr N G Palmer, Dr C G Lawler, ARAMCO Racing.
