TUFF TU MUS scored his third straight win and sealed a stable double with a dominant display over the Doomben mile.
Shortly after seeing stablemate BLONDE ON BLONDE break through, TUFF TU MUS took to the track in the Class 2 Plate and justified his odds-on quote with an arrogant win under Noel Callow.
The pair had combined for victory at the same venue at the end of October, and it was a case of rinse and repeat albeit over the extra distance which bodes well for the future.
Despite stepping away slowly and being trapped wide in the early stages, the son of All Too Hard was still a class above his rivals as he took his earnings past $75,000 from just five starts.
“It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when you have a short-priced favourite stepping up in trip, but there was no need to worry,” said David.
“Today was all about seeing how he would go over the mile, because it opens up more doors for him further down the track. So while he was dropping back in grade, I wanted to step him up in trip and it was good to see him tick that box.
“There was genuine tempo early and he was out on a limb a little bit, he had to work to take up a position and the leader kept rolling. He was a little keen early but I was pleased Noel didn’t panic, he waited to get in to get in further down the back straight. So it was a good test for him and he came through it with flying colours.”
Many congratulations to his sole owner John Fordham, who paid $140,000 for TUFF TU MUS at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Yearling Sale.
