PROVANCE proved too strong for his rivals at Ipswich on Saturday as the colt continued his prosperous preparation.
The son of Star Witness made it three wins and three minor placings from our last eight runners after he powered away for his second win in the Class 2 Handicap (1200m).
PROVANCE raced prominently throughout and after sweeping to the front at the 400m mark under Ryan Wiggins, the pair soon put a margin on the field to score by almost three lengths.
Victory carried PROVANCE’s earnings past $50,000 from just eights starts for Yarramalong Park, who bred and race the 3YO.
“He went really well today,” said Wiggins.
“It’s the first time I’ve sat on him and he was really quiet going round to the gates, but he was a bit fractious when he was loaded into the barriers. He didn’t jump away that well but fortunately as we were drawn outside, we were still able to roll forward.
“The tempo was pretty good which allowed him to settle nicely for me. He really kicked on nicely at the top of the straight and we probably got to the front a little early, but it was a nice strong win and judging by that performance, I would say he’ll win plenty more races.”
Many congratulations to the team at Yarramalong Stud.
