PRIVATE EQUITY GETS THE CASH

PRIVATE EQUITY showed great tenacity to overcome a very tricky run in transit and break through at start number six at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

The gorgeous grey appeared trapped behind a wall of horses in the home straight, but jockey Michael Rodd extricated her from a potentially sticky situation and the mare displayed great bravery to take the slender gap that eventually opened up.

There was still plenty of work to do, but the daughter of Capitalist pinned her ears back and stuck her head out on the line to score by the narrowest of margins.

“Michael had to switch course a few times in the straight, but she knuckled down and got the job done in the end,” said David.

“She’s probably better suited to 1200-metre races, but I thought this looked a very winnable maiden when the nominations came out, and luckily she just had enough zip in her legs to win.”

The hard-fought victory earned her patient connections a cheque for $16,800, congratulations to Mr D M White, Mr K R Bredhauer, Mr S P Friend, Mr J Nigg, Albury’s Own, Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds, Mrs R Pajor, Ms S R Smith, Mrs T Rook, Mr J D Allen and Mr P Power.
