PEACEFUL PRINCE broke his maiden with a powerful late surge to justify favouritism at Ipswich on Thursday.
After an eye-catching run at the Sunshine Coast at the start of the month, the 4YO broke through at his third stable start in the Maiden Handicap (1200m) under Neil Callow.
PEACEFUL PRINCE didn’t appear to be travelling like the winner midway through the race, but Callow coaxed him through his gears and when he was in full flight, there was no stopping the son of Invader.
“I wasn’t all that confident in the run, but when I asked him for an effort he quickened nicely,” said Callow.
“He’s still a bit green but he’s a promising type. I would suggest stepping him up in trip again next time and after that scenario today, I think he’ll settle better in the future.”
The two-length win earned his connections a cheque for $16,800 which doubled his career earnings, congratulations to Mr D W Kendall, Mr P Carr, Mr M D Graham, Mr P J Prendergast, Mr G P Carmody, Mr J L Bromley, Mr J Unwala and Mr M Wanzare.
