PICKET FENCE CONTINUES FOR TUFF GELDING

Lightly raced four-year-old TUFF TU MUS extended his picket fence to four straight wins with a determined first-up victory at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Resuming over 1200m, the son of All Too Hard unleashed a strong sprint for experienced jockey Noel Callow to extend his impressive record to four wins and two seconds from just six starts.

Trainer David Vandyke labelled the four-year-old gelding a ‘real weapon’ after he overcame his pre-race nerves to continue his winning run.

“He's got a lot of nervous energy and when he can put it to use, like he did just then in the latter stages, you know, he's a real weapon.

“Noel, to his credit, just rode him perfect. I don't think he's a wet tracker, I think he'll look better on top of the ground and once we get him up over a little bit further, he'll be advantaged.

“He's been going well but I didn't want to run him out of his grade, he's a Class 3 horse and we're into the carnival.

“We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. But we'll just nominate him for everything now, he’s just won a Saturday race so the pressure’s off.”

Callow paid tribute to TUFF TU MUS’ fighting qualities particularly given his pre-race antics.

“The last furlong he proved he’s a winner,” said Callow

“He’s a progressive horse and he’s been value placed so he just keeps getting the job done.

Congratulations to owner John Fordham
