PHAROAH'S PROPHECY IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK

Updated: Jun 27

PHAROAH’S PROPHECY continued the stable’s strong recent association with On Track Racing when he made a mess of his rivals at Doomben on Wednesday.

Following EASY LOVE’s breakthrough seven days previously, PHARAOAH’S PROPHECY made it two maiden winners from our last two On Track runners before ELLIBABY came within a nose of bringing up the hat-trick in the last race of the day at Doomben.

PHAROAH’S PROPHECY hadn’t been sighted on the racetrack for more than six months, but he made light of the lengthy lay-off with a very comfortable first-up win in the Maiden Handicap (1350m).

Given a patient ride by Jag Guthmann-Chester, the 4YO extended impressively in the straight to streak clear of his opposition and score by three-and-a-half lengths.

“The 1350 first-up gave him the chance to get into the right spot in the early to middle stages,” said David.

“The further they went the more confident I got, because he was able to work through his gears and get into top speed. It was all over pretty quickly in the straight, and it was the perfect experience for the horse.

“I have to give credit to Jag, the temptation would have been to kick out of the gates and hold the lead but he didn’t do that. We spoke before the race about giving the horse the whole back straight to find a good position, which allowed the leader to skip away and Jag to ride the horse very comfortably, which was the right thing to do and made the difference.”

Many congratulations to the team at On Track and all owners: Mrs J C Webster, Mr G J Webster, Transcend Syndicate, Bayside Allsports, Mr F J Vernon, Bayles Girls Racing, Mr S Parish, Mr B J Caple, Ms J E May, Mr M J Willstorfer, Mr D Green, Ms M Khoury and Mr J Wilson.
