NOBLE WIN FOR 3YO ON THE UP

NOBLE DECREE showcased his growing potential after capping a stable double with a powerful finish at Doomben on Wednesday.

Despite having shown plenty of ability in his early career date, the son of Per Incato had struggled to put it all together on raceday with four seconds and a win from his seven prior starts.

However, the three-year-old showed he is “coming of age” after producing his best win to date under the urgings of champion jockey Craig Williams.

“I was a bit worried because last start he got to the front a bit soon at the Sunshine Coast and he switched off,” said trainer David Vandyke.

“But he was really strong through the line today which we have not seen before so I really think he is coming of age.

“I think being up in grade today on a track where there was early pace played right into his hands.”

Vandyke paid tribute to the patience of owners Ron and Judy Wanless following the victory.

“It was great to get a winner for Ron and Judy - they’ve been big supporters of mine and we haven’t had a lot of luck but we got the job done today.”

Williams said the win showed what the horse is capable of moving forward.

“I got presented a really nice horse by David Vandyke and his team and it was very easy to ride,” said Williams.

“I did have a bit of concern when he had run four seconds previously because I just thought, you know ‘is he fair dinkum’?

“But the way that he went today I thought ’wow’ he’s a genuine horse with very nice ability, and on his rating, he's got a lot of upside so I’ll leave it up to David and his team where they want to go with him. “
