MY SNOW QUEEN ICES THEM AGAIN

MY SNOW QUEEN extended her purple patch for the stable and went past the $100,000 mark with a breakthrough Metropolitan victory at Doomben.

Having won on her stable debut on Christmas Eve and finished third at her second start earlier this month, MY SNOW QUEEN entered Wednesday’s Benchmark 70 handicap with a spring in her step.

With in-form jockey Ryan Maloney in the saddle for the first time, the daughter of Star Turn was backed into $2.70 favouritism ahead of the jump.

MY SNOW QUEEN smartly from barrier six, with Maloney opting to take a sit off a hot early pace in the 1200m contest.

The pair still had plenty of ground to make up in the home straight, but MY SNOW QUEEN gradually reeled in the runaway leader to get up in the shadows of the post.

After the race, David paid tribute to both horse and rider, saying: “Ryan got there just in the nick of time, on the point of the corner he still looked confident he’d get there even though they had a lot of ground to make up, so that gave me confidence.

“I liked the way he backed off the horse in front the first 600m, he resisted the temptation to go with him and it was a masterful ride from a jockey who is riding the crest of a wave at the minute. The horse still had to respond and she did that in spades, so credit to her.”
