LUTON HOO continued her purple patch of form when she scored an all-the-way home track win on Sunday.
The mare relished dropping back to the Sunshine Coast mile at her first competitive start on the grass track in the Benchmark 58 Handicap.
LUTON HOO has thrived since arriving in Queensland and after a win and two minor placings from her four previous starts, the daughter of Time Test extended her impressive record under apprentice jockey Rob Thorburn.
The pair pinged the lids and took command of the contest from the outset, with LUTON HOO extending her lead after rounding the turn.
Despite the runner-up rapidly closing the margin near the line, the 4YO held on gamely for a third career victory which carried her earnings past the $50,000 mark.
“She had a good blow after the race, but her recovery was pretty good,” said David.
“Her heart-rate came down pretty quickly, which is a good sign. It was a great result to see her win like that after dropping back from 2000 metres at her previous start. It was no surprise to see another horse come at her late because they went for home quite early, but full credit to the horse for holding on for the win.”
Many congratulations to her owners, Annabelle Borges and Avraam Solomon.
