JIMMY’S BROTHER delivered a knockout punch on Boxing Day at the Sunshine Coast as the 3YO streaked to his first win by more than four lengths.
The half-brother to winning machine SLIPPIN’ JIMMY broke through with ease as he led all the way under a typically astute Angela Jones ride.
After a solid return over the track and trip at the start of the month, the son of Zousain took huge improvement as he showed his rivals a clean pair of heels.
Having broken very smartly from the outside gate, JIMMY’S BROTHER grabbed the race by the scruff of the neck and never looked in any danger on his way to collecting a cheque for $22,000.
“He was certainly nice and fresh out there today,” said Jones.
“I didn’t want to wrestle him when we came out of the gates, because I thought he would start fighting me. He has plenty of natural early speed so I didn’t need to scrub him up anyway. We never got further in than three off the fence, but it was a nice position to be in.
“When he found himself in front he probably had a bit of a look around in the home straight, so I just gave him a couple of taps. He then found the line really well and in the end it was a very dominant win.”
Many congratulations to all his owners: MR Racing, Mr M W Cook, Mr J J Ward, Ms J S Rockliff, Mr E S Cromb, Mr J Mannion, Mr T Brown, Mr J Patterson, Mr M R Brown, Mr S Dodds, Insain Racing, Mr L A Salvador, Mr P G Anderson, Mr R A Schaefer, Mr D A Dyson, Neil Douglas Racing, Mr M R Gilmore, Ms K Moran, Mr K Riches and The Big Seal.
