GREY MARE CHERISHES FIRST QLD WIN

CHERISH THE DAY displayed plenty of toughness to break through for her first win for the stable at Ipswich on Thursday.

Lining up for her fourth start since joining the stable, the striking grey mare had to do it the hard way - winning on protest after copping a bump in a tight two-battle to the winning post.

Jockey Ryan Maloney prevailed in the stewards room after successfully arguing the interference was enough to overturn the narrow winning margin.

The daughter of Capitalist has enjoyed her time in Queensland since arriving from Victoria, finishing in the money at her four starts for the stable and collecting almost $30,000 in prizemoney.
