PHAROAH’S PROPHECY displayed more Doomben dominance and extended the stable’s flying form when he scored a second successive win at Brisbane’s midweek metropolitan meeting.
Three weeks after breaking his maiden at Doomben by 3.5 lengths in late June, the 4YO returned to the same venue and promptly dispatched his rivals by a similar margin in the Class 1 Handicap (1650m).
Having sat just off a hot early speed, PHAROAH’S PROPHECY grabbed the race by the scruff of the neck when he rounded the home turn.
Given a shake of the reins by jockey Jag Guthmann-Chester, the son of American Pharoah extended impressively in the straight with his three-length win carrying his earnings past $50,000 from just six starts.
“What a wonderful win that was,” said David.
“Most horses don’t win two metropolitan races in their whole careers, let alone two in a row. The owners have shown a lot of patience with him and allowed us to go at our own pace, so I have to thank them for that.
“He’s in great shape and he’s still only lightly-raced, so there’s plenty ahead of him. I thought his head carriage was better today, so that was a good sign.
“His recovery wasn’t as quick as we would’ve expected, so we won’t be going back to the races for at least two-and-a-half weeks if not longer, just to give him time to get over his run. There are a few options coming up for him, but we’ll just let the horse decide when he’s ready to return to the races.”
Victory took the stable’s recent record to six wins and five minor placings from our last 12 starters.
