FLYING SHELLY HITS THE BOARD

ree

It was a case of another day, another winner for the stable when FLYING SHELLY broke through for her first victory in Queensland at Ipswich.

Having resumed with a fast-finishing second over 1000m the previous month, FLYING SHELLY relished the step up to 1200m second-up in Thursday’s Benchmark 65 Handicap.

Given a super steer by Taylor Marshall, who kept the mare in a lovely rhythm throughout, FLYING SHELLY showed plenty of late dash to break through at her third start for the stable.

Success for the daughter of Flying Artie also extended our prolific recent record, which now reads seven winners and six minor placings from 16 starters.

“It was wonderful to see the big girl win the way she did,” said David.

“Taylor popped out one out, one back early, which gave him options. When they cruised up on the corner, I was pretty confident. She really pinned her ears back and you could see she wanted to win the race.

“Her recovery was really good, her heart-rate came down quickly and she seemed in a very happy place.”

Many congratulations to Mr P L Jelfs, Mrs P M Jelfs, Mr L Foy and Mrs S Foy.
