FAB FIVE FOR LUTON HOO

ree

LUTON HOO brought up her fifth career win in dramatic fashion at the Sunshine Coast on Friday night.

Just a pimple separated LUTON HOO and the race favourite on the line after the mare had powered home in the Benchmark 65 Handicap.

Returning to action after a winter spell, the daughter of Time Test settled in midfield in the early stages of the 1200m contest.

Jockey Ben Thompson had a lap full of horse in the straight, and once LUTON HOO had let down she thrust out her neck right on the line to get the verdict by a very slender margin.

Given that she has winning form at the mile, the fact that the 5YO was speedy enough first-up over the shorter distance would suggest a promising preparation ahead.

“I was confident she would come here and run well after her trial last week,” said Thompson.

“She travelled a treat the whole race and she just kept winding up in the straight, but I wasn’t sure if we’d got there on the line. If the race was another 50 metres we probably would’ve won more comfortably, because she was starting to come away. The further she goes the better she’ll be, so she should be in for a good prep.”

Many congratulations to all her owners: Mrs A Borges, Mr A Solomon, Mr A Barter, Mr A Bertinato, Mr P Bertinato, Mr A D Dickson, Mr D R Stirling, Mr J P Young, Mr K Treanor and Mr R P Robinson.
