DOUBLE DELIGHT FOR TUFF TU MUS

TUFF TU MUS earned a shot at the Magic Millions Carnival after the ultra-consistent 4YO scored back-to-back metropolitan wins on Wednesday.

Having dominated his rivals when breaking his maiden at Doomben at the start of the month, the son of All Too Hard took the step up in grade in his ample stride with a very comfortable victory in the Class 2 Plate (1350m).

With Noel Callow in the saddle for the first time, TUFF TU MUS broke cleanly from the gates and settled just off the speed.

TUFF TU MUS hit the front 200 metres from home, and in a flash he had extended his advantage with a devastating turn of speed to score by more than four lengths eased down.

“His heart rate was very good after the race,” said David.

“He was a little bit agitated though, so as much as I’d love to take him back to the races in the next couple of weeks, I think a let-up is probably the best approach with him. Physically he’s spot on, but mentally he’s still learning what it’s all about.

“He’s a smart horse so he’ll definitely get there, and his efforts on the track have been amazing. He’ll spend a couple of weeks at Pineview now, then we’ll bring him back into work and plot a path towards the Magic Millions Carnival.”

The impressive victory ensured we ended a slightly frustrating day on a high note, after four of our previous five runners had finished in the minor money.

Victory also took TUFF TU MUS’ earnings past the $50,000 mark from just four career starts, many congratulations to his owner John Fordham.
