DEEP TEMPEST kicked off his Spring campaign with a bang after taking out the Class 1 Handicap (1350m) at Doomben’s midweek meeting.

In his first competitive appearance in more than nine months, the son of Ocean Park toughed out a second career victory to take his earnings past $50,000 from just five starts.

DEEP TEMPEST broke well and settled just off the speed, before Steph Thornton made her move at the 400m mark.

The pair took the full length of the straight and showed plenty of tenacity to got there just in time to earn a handy cheque for $19,800.

Congratulations to Heran Racing, who raced multiple Group 1 winner Pippie.
