DEEP TEMPEST DIGS DEEP

DEEP TEMPEST held on gamely for his third career win in a thrilling finish at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Forty-eight hours after LOST HIS BEANS had saluted on his home track, DEEP TEMPEST followed his stablemate into the winner’s enclosure with the narrowest of victories in the Class 3 Handicap (1400m).

The son of Ocean Park took sharp improvement from his first-up run at Doomben earlier in the month, leading all the way under James Orman to take his earnings to the cusp of $70,000 from just seven starts.

Connections faced a nervous wait for his third career win to be confirmed, but his relieved trainer was all smiles after hearing the verdict.

“I wasn’t expecting him to lead, but he got there easily from the gates,” said David.

“He’s still carrying a little bit  of condition, so there will be further improvement to come and he’s probably a better chaser than he is a leader, but it was great to see him get the job done for Heran Racing.

“They’ve been nice and patient and he should be even better as we get deeper into the prep and step him up to the mile.”

Congratulations to the team at Heran Racing on their win.
