BLONDE BOMBSHELL EXPLODES AT DOOMBEN

BLONDE ON BLONDE broke her maiden status in some style when she powered home at Doomben’s midweek metropolitan meeting.

Having showed signs of greenness - but also her talent - on debut at Eagle Farm, the well-bred filly stepped up to 1350m at career start number two and promptly dispatched her opponents with some authority.

The daughter of Pierro settled in midfield and travelled comfortably before Ron Stewart peeled her to the outside shortly after straightening.

From there, the filly still faced a task with five rivals in front of her at the 400m mark, but after engaging top gear she picked them off one by one and held on bravely at the end to score an impressive win by a long neck.

“She’s a well-bred filly and this win will add to her value,” said David.

“We may turn her out now, she’s still got to fill out and develop so she’s doing it on raw ability at the minute. She’ll head to the paddock and I think you’ll see a really nice filly next preparation.

“The plan was to not bring her inside any horses. We wanted to have her back a bit then bring her to the outside, which worked well. I thought she might have hit the front a touch early, but she pinned the ears back and hit the line strongly, so she knows how to win now.”

Many congratulations to the team at Canning Downs Stud, who shared in a cheque for $22,000.
