BACK TO BACK BLITZ BY ANTONITO

ANTONITO scored back-to-back wins in some style after he relished stepping up to 1350m for the first time in his career at Doomben on Friday.

The 4YO is now two wins from his two starts this prep after he led all the way under Noel Callow in the Class 2 Handicap.

The pair pinged the lids and took command of proceedings from the outset, with the son of Sacred Falls eventually prevailing by almost four lengths to score his third career win.

Victory took his earnings past the $75,000 mark, making his $65,000 purchase price at the 2022 NZB Karaka Sales look a real bargain.

“The ear muffs have definitely done the trick with this horse,” said David.

“I’ve never really experimented with them before on raceday, but he seems to be loving them. What I really loved about him today was that he didn’t just try to ping away when he got to the front, he built momentum and Noel was able to keep him rolling without having to use him up too much.

“It was his first run over the trip, so I thought it might’ve been a risk but gee he travelled well. I didn’t want to run him over further than 1200-metres last prep, but he’s bred to get the mile and the way he ran today there’s no reason why he won’t.”

Congratulations to his owners: Mr J S Brown, Mr W G Johns, Mr R K Carbis, Mr B R Turville, Mr J P Munt, Pryde Racing, Mr A D Tonge and Mr R McNeill.
